Performance characteristics of Butyl Rubber (IIR)

The main performance characteristics of Butyl Rubber (IIR) are as follows:

1. It is formed by polymerization of isobutylene with a small amount of isoprene.

2. The steric hindrance of methyl groups results in less molecular motion than other polymers, resulting in less gas permeability.

3. Has great resistance to heat, sunlight, and ozone.

4. Good electrical insulation.

5. High resistance to polar solvents.

6. The general temperature range for use is -54~110 ℃.

Advantages: Low gas permeability and general gas impermeability; Strong resistance to heat, sunlight, and ozone, good electrical insulation, strong resistance to acute solutions, alcohols, and ketones, and can be exposed to animal and vegetable oils or oxidizable chemicals.

General operating temperature: -54~110 ℃.

Disadvantage: It is not recommended to use petroleum solvents, kerosene, and aromatic hydrogen simultaneously.

It is commonly used for making rubber parts that are resistant to chemicals, vacuum equipment, and inner tubes for automobiles and airplanes.
