Types and Applications of Rubber
Types and Applications of Rubber:
Natural rubber (NR): Made from latex from rubber trees, the basic chemical composition is cis polyisoprene, which is a polymer of isoprene. This type of rubber has good wear resistance, high elasticity, tensile strength and elongation, acid and alkali resistance, and good overall performance. Widely used in the tire industry, shoe industry, fabric industry, and conveyor belt industry.
Isoprene rubber (IR): The full name is cis-1,4-polyisoprene rubber, which is a highly cis synthetic rubber made from isoprene. Due to its similar structure and properties to natural rubber, it is also called synthetic natural rubber. This type of rubber can replace natural rubber in the manufacturing of heavy-duty and off-road tires, and can also be used to produce various rubber products.
Styrene butadiene rubber (SBR): It is made by copolymerization of butadiene and styrene. It is the largest general purpose synthetic rubber. According to the production method, it can be divided into lotion polymerized styrene butadiene rubber, solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber and thermoplastic rubber (SBR). Widely used in tire, shoe, fabric, and conveyor belt industries.
BR: Full name cis 1,4-polybutadiene rubber, obtained by solution polymerization of butadiene. This type of rubber has particularly excellent cold resistance, wear resistance, and elasticity, with less heat generation under dynamic load, good aging resistance, and is easy to mix with natural rubber, chloroprene rubber, nitrile rubber, etc. Mainly used in the tire industry, rubber shoe industry, wire and cable industry, etc.
Chloroprene rubber (CR): Made from chloroprene as the main raw material, through homopolymerization or copolymerization with a small amount of other monomers. This type of rubber has good elasticity and wear resistance after vulcanization, and the formula does not contain sulfur. It has excellent weather resistance, is not afraid of intense distortion, is not afraid of refrigerants, is resistant to dilute acids, and is resistant to silicone ester based lubricants. The temperature range of use is -50-150 ℃. Mainly used in cold resistant products, cushioning materials, as well as tape, rubber shoes, etc.
